Here is a list of how each Path Action in the RPG Octopath Traveler 2 by Square Enix is ranked.
Turn-based games got something new from Octopath Traveler 2 and its predecessor. Each of the game’s eight active characters has two Path Actions they can use on non-player characters.Thief Throné, for example, can steal during the day and knock people out during the night.
Overall, this does not mean that the game has sixteen Path Actions. Octopath Traveler 2 has more like four different types of Path Actions. From least valuable to most valuable, these different areas will be ranked. In each section, characters will be judged on who has the most useful Path Action in that group. It will become clear as we go along, so let’s get started.
Knocking Out NPCs
In Octopath Traveler 2, there are different ways to kill NPCs. This will let them get past guards who are standing in front of places like doors or stairs. These NPCs sometimes watch over wealth, and sometimes they watch over other NPCs. It’s mostly used for exploring, but it’s also important in many story situations. It can lead to some interesting things, but not as often as some of the other Path Actions.
Throné, Castti, Ochette, and Hikari are the four characters who can knock out NPCs. Ambush is the name of the Path Action for Throné. If she has the right level, she can easily knock out a non-player character.Soothe is the name of Castti’s Path Action. She can knock out NPCs with medicine, but she only has so much of it. It’s easy to use, but not as easy as Throné’s Ambush.
The Path Action that Ochette has is called “Provoke.” She can fight NPCs, but she can only use monsters she has caught. It’s kind of like a weird Pokemon battle. The Path Action that Hikari takes is called Challenge. He has to fight NPCs before he can knock them out, just like Ochette. In Challenge, it’s cool that Hikari can learn skills from NPCs. He can only use one ability at a time, but that doesn’t change the fact that Challenge is the best ability of this type in Octopath Traveler 2.
Taking Information
There are different ways to get NPCs to give up information they have. Most NPCs in the game, whether they are adults or children, have some kind of bio written about them. Aside from this bio, they might also know something secret. This information can sometimes lower the cost of things like stopping at an inn. It can sometimes lead to something hidden in town. The NPC will sometimes just tell a funny joke.
Players will get a wide range of things from NPCs, but this skill can help them get some cool stuff. Temenos, Osvald, Hikari, and Castti are the four characters in Octopath Traveler 2 who can get information from NPCs.Coerce is the name of the Path Action for Temenos. For this, players have to fight in a battle, but they don’t have to win. They only have to get past the defences once.
The Path Action that Osvald has is called “Scrutinize.” NPCs will tell players things based on a random number. This percentage can go up as Osvald gets better. This is how most percentages in the game work. The Path Action for Hikari is called “Bribe.” He only spends money to get information, which usually doesn’t cost very much. Still, if the person isn’t careful, it can add up. The last Path Action Castti can do is called “Inquire.” It is a free move Castti can take as long as he has the right level. In this way, Castti and Hikari are tied, and it depends on each NPC’s level and cost to see who wins.
Summoning Characters In Battle
This is one of Octopath Traveler 2’s more useful skills. The characters can ask NPCs to help them fight. The first time you use them, they will attack, but after that, they will stay behind the person who called them. They will be able to fight, heal, or guard freely for a few rounds before going away. There are some NPCs that are really strong, so keep an eye out for them.
Four players in the game can call on NPCs: Temenos, Ochette, Agnea, and Partitio. The Path Action for Temenos is called “Guide.” This is another level-based skill that lets Temenos ask NPCs for help as long as he is at the right level. Befriend is the name of the Path Action for Ochette. Overall, her character is a Hunter, which means she can catch monsters and use them in fight, kind of like a summoning. She can also turn monsters into jerky-like food, which she uses to get NPCs to help her on her quest.
Allure is the name of the Path Action for Agnea. She has a % chance of getting more fans, and that’s all there is to it. Lastly, the Path Action for Partitio is called Hire. This lets him spend money to hire new people, and the better the NPCs are, the more it will cost. Even though this can be expensive, NPCs help the party in another way. They can have skills that can often make things cheaper in stores. In Octopath Traveler 2, Partitio’s use of calling is the most interesting, even though it can cost money. Temenos is also good, and it’s free, though you have to be a certain level to use it.
Taking Items
NPCs in Slope Game can give things to players as gifts or steal them. Some of the best Path Actions in Octopath Traveler 2 are these ones, because they let players get much better tools than they should have at that point. Depending on what’s going on, players could have end-game armour after just a few hours.
All four of Throné, Osvald, Partitio, and Agnea can get things in some way. The Path Action for Throné is called “Steal.” It is the simplest of these skills, since players have a chance of getting an item out of it every time they use it. The Path Action that Osvald has is called Mug. He can dare NPCs to a fight, and if he wins, he gets to take everything the NPC has. Purchase is the name of the Path Action for Partitio.
Instead of stealing things, he can give money for them, which can be cheaper than stores sometimes. But money still changes hands, which defeats the point of making it easier to get things. The Path Action for Agnea is called “Plead.” It depends on her level, and if she meets their requirements, NPCs will just give her their goods. This would be good, but the best things can’t be used until you reach a certain level, which again defeats the point of getting the best gear early. So, this match goes to Throné, with Osvald coming in a close second.
