In Diablo 4 Season 5 Season of the Infernal Hordes, many new Uniques have been added, and they have become core items in many builds. The best way to get these Uniques is to fight Uber Bosses, which are endgame variants of seasonal and campaign bosses.
But you need to be aware that these Uber Bosses will not appear out of thin air or quietly wait for you to come out somewhere, but require some Diablo 4 summoning materials to summon them. So this guide will explain to you what summoning materials are and where to get them in Season 5.
What Are Summoning Materials?
As mentioned above, summoning materials are required before you fight Uber Bosses. Each boss in the game will only be summoned in a specific dungeon using the correct materials. Some Pinnacle bosses are the source of Mythic Uniques throughout the game, so many players will try their best to summon them in order to obtain powerful Uniques such as Harlequin Crest or Tyrael’s Might.
Currently, each Pinnacle boss has two versions that can be summoned, Normal and Tormented. Normal bosses will drop a loot, which has a 1.5% chance of dropping Mythic Uniques. For Tormented variants, they will drop 5 loot, but it costs 3 times the materials you need to summon the normal boss.
So if your character is upgraded to a very powerful level, you can choose to challenge Tormented variant directly, because it has a prime chance of dropping Mythic Unique you want, about 7%.
How To Get Summoning Materials?
Stygian Stones
In Diablo 4 Season 5, the best source of Stygian Stones is Infernal Hordes activity in the new endgame mode. It will appear in resource boxes in Tiers 7 and 8, but the chance is relatively small, and you may get two Stygian Stones per run. If you are lucky or you perform well in Infernal Hordes, you may get more.
In addition, Stygian Stones can also be found in The Pit, but the requirements are higher because you need to complete the run within a time limit. And the drop rate is also relatively low. In comparison, running Infernal Hordes is more effective, and Infernal Hordes will also reward you with more Diablo 4 Gold.
In terms of use, Stygian Stones can summon Tormented variants of all pinnacle bosses. This means that no matter which boss you want to kill, when you challenge its Tormented variant, you need a Stygian Stone.
Although it has a lower drop rate in The Pit and Infernal Hordes, it is also in low demand. As long as you don’t miss any Infernal Hordes resource boxes, you will have enough Stygian Stones to summon Tormented bosses. Don’t worry.
Exquisite Blood
When you enter Helltide and fight Blood Maiden, there is a high chance that at least one bottle of Exquisite Blood will drop. However, Blood Maiden is not waiting for you in Helltide. You need to collect three Baneful Hearts before you can summon it, and it can only be on the boss’ summoning altar.
This boss’ summoning altar will appear as a Whisper objective on your map. Baneful Hearts required to summon Blood Maiden are found in Helltide chests and have drop protection. In short, if you didn’t get a Baneful Heart in the previous activities, you will get one in the end to make up for it. You can also find Diablo 4 Gold as a reward in these chests.
In addition, Exquisite Blood can also be obtained in World Events, but the drop rate here is too low, unlike the guaranteed drop in Hell Fiend.
Next, who can Exquisite Blood summon? It is Tormented Lord Zir, and it is also a very popular boss among players because it can drop Fractured Winterglass Unique, which is very needed by Sorcerer Class. You can find his summoning altar in Darkened Way dungeon in Fractured Peaks, and you can see him by placing the required summoning materials.
Distilled Fear
Of all the summoning materials, Distilled Fear can be said to be the easiest to get, because it is a guaranteed drop in Nightmare Dungeons of Tiers 21 and above. This means that as long as you clear this dungeon, you can get Distilled Fear, usually 1 or 2.
In addition, Distilled Fear can also be obtained in the loot after you fight Treasure Goblins, but there is currently no specific way to summon Treasure Goblins, so it depends on luck.
The normal Beast in the Ice can be summoned when you have 9 Distilled Fears, and Tormented Beast in the Ice requires 27. You can summon Beast in the Ice by taking these Distilled Fears to Glacial Fissure dungeon in Fractured Peaks south of Kyovoshad.
This boss’s mechanic is the most dangerous of the normal pinnacle bosses in this season, so even if your build has very strong DPS, try not to mess with it unless you really need Beast in the Ice loot. Even if you have to fight it, use as much Diablo 4 Gold as possible to ensure you have a strong build. Don’t be stingy with your Gold, as it will determine whether you can survive the encounter safely.
Living Steel
Living Steel also appears in Helltide, but unlike Exquisite Blood, it does not require you to fight any bosses, just open Tortured Gift chests after the run is completed. In the standard Tortured Gift chests, there will be 1 Living Steel, and in Gift of Living Steel chest, there will be 5. This chest costs 275 Aberrant Cinders from Helltide, so you’ll want to run Helltide as many times as possible.
Like Tormented Beast in the Ice, you’ll need 27 Living Steel to summon Tormented Grigoire, a deadly automaton in Hall of Penitent dungeon in Khejistan. Since Living Steel is so easy to obtain, both Grigoire and Tormented Grigoire are relatively quick bosses for you to fight.
Running a full Helltide will give you enough Living Steel to fight Tormented Grigoire two or three times, which will give you a lot more Uniques and Diablo 4 Gold.
Malignant Heart
Having just talked about the easiest summoning material, let’s talk about the harder one – Malignant Heart. You usually get it in Whisper Caches, and each Whisper Cache will drop a Heart or other random body part, and the drop rate of Malignant Heart is very low.
These body parts can be exchanged for Malignant Heart at Alchemist, but have no other use. Besides Whisper Caches, you can also find this summoning material from Elite enemies spawned in Helltide or World Boss fights, and the drop rate is also very low.
But fortunately, it doesn’t take that many Malignant Hearts to summon Tormented Varshan, only 15, and the normal version of Varshan only needs 5. Once you have enough Malignant Hearts, you can go to Malignant Burrow next to Tree of Whispers in Hawezar to summon it.
Pincushioned Dolls
After you summon Beast in the Ice with Distilled Fear and defeat it, you will get Pincushioned Dolls as your reward. The normal version will reward you with one Pincushioned Doll, while Tormented version will reward you with 5 Pincushioned Dolls.
You can use these Pincushioned Dolls to go to Hanged Man’s Hall in Kehjistan to start the summoning of Tormented Andariel. This is the most tough boss in the entire game, so make sure you have good stats before fighting it.
The above are some of the summoning materials in Diablo 4 Season 5. I hope you can collect them in the game as soon as possible and use them to summon the boss you want to fight. I wish you a happy exploration in this season!
